Presidents Message for: Feb. 18th., 2015

Getting larger can be a good thing as long as it is not me waistline, but in all seriousness with the addition of our three newest members we can accomplish much more. With each new member we bring more hands to help with our projects, more donations of funds for our projects and more desire to help improve the lives of our fellow man.
But getting the new members is just the start we need to bring those members in to the fold and get them involved directly with our projects so they can see the good we accomplish with our work. We also need to develop friendships with our members because this is the second reason most people joined Rotary to be involved with likeminded people. Over all we are a friendly club but there is always room for improvement, such as shaking hands and greeting each member as they arrive. Here are some ways other clubs treat their members and guests. One club has a motto: Guests are Gods. And the guests are treated that way hoping they will want to join such a friendly group. Another club asks its guests for feedback as to what they liked or didn’t like about their visit. There are also clubs that have monthly socials such as potluck dinners, wine & cheese or theater or movie nights
I have said before the top two reasons people join Rotary is to give back to the community and for friendship and as long as we provide both of these opportunities we will retain and grow our membership. I enjoy spending time with friends and doing thing together, I know I’m not the only person in our club who feels that way so share your time and friendship with your fellow Rotarians.
